The Shelby Dealers Terminated Contracts records consist of correspondence and agreements between Shelby American, Inc. and various Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers. The records include the original sales and distribution agreements and form letters notifying dealers of the termination of the agreement. In 1967, Carol Shelby and his specialty high-performance car company Shelby American, Inc. entered into a sales and distribution agreement with Ford Motor Company. Under the agreement, Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers throughout the United States were granted sales contracts to distribute high-performance Shelby GT's including the GT-350 and GT-500.
